« Adventure, Discovered and Wellness at the same time »
More than a month and a few days ago, Malagasy people celebrated the Malagasy New Year. The exact date was April 6, 2019, specifically. Like the Chinese New Year, the Malagasy New Year follows the lunar cycle and is celebrated every year throughout the Big Island.
As this is an identity event, this Malagasy new year touches on several areas, including the cultural plan and the tourism and economic sectors. And when we talk about tourism, we refer directly to various tourist organizations, such as the ORTM, which constantly organize new projects as part of the celebration of the Malagasy New Year.
In the region of Analamanga, the event was marked by rites in the heart of Ambohitrabiby hill. It was here that everyone focused on honoring the New Year and attending the various cultural activities organized in this honor.
Among the most outstanding, there was certainly the visit and discovery of the Royal Hill and the Ambohitrabiby Museum. The silk village was also happy to welcome visitors who were very interested in the wonders of the products and the know-how of the local artisans.
The Malagasy operetta was surely at the rendez-vous during which spectators watched the richness of Malagasy oral literature. In parallel, sport also had its place during the celebration. The most athletic were therefore invited to participate in the hiking on the hill Ambohitrabiby. The course measured 3.5km and could be realized in 2h maximum.
And as always, no one has forgotten the different rituals like the lighting of the eternal flame, the celebration of the blessing or "fafy rano", the sharing of cooked rice sprinkled with honey and milk or "Tatao", as well as sharing a sheaf of rice for an even more prosperous year, or "zara hasina".
