The start of the Whale Festival will be launched on July 11th, which will end on July 14th, 2019. It only waits for tourists and spectators. The giants of the sea are in place since the end of June.
The Whale Festival is in its fourth edition this year 2019. It will always honor the humpback whales that come to enjoy the temperate waters of the east coast of Madagascar.
The CETAMADA team has already made a first outing to observe them closely. Involved in the protection of whales, this association will accompany all visitors at sea during the festival. It will also make tourists aware of the rules of good behavior to be taken during the safari, so as not to disturb the whales or damage their natural habitat.
Regarding the city of Sainte Marie, the effervescence will be at its height. Various animations will be organized during the festival, including the parade of the famous "Drôles de dames" and the participation of the inhabitants of the 18 villages of the island. These people will present during the 4 days their own culture, their customary dance and their respective songs.
Regarding the boat safari, observers can come close to mammals and even feel their breath. (Always in the company of a CETAMADA guide) These cetacean enthusiasts can not touch them but rather admire them from afar and list them.
And as always, thanks to this festival, the whole CETAMA team wants to make people aware of the protection of these marine mammals. In addition to culinary competitions and sports projects, thematic conferences focusing on this topic will be organized. These activities are initiated in order to enhance and preserve the natural riches of the Big Island.
